A solidarity walk in collaboration with Carpe Diem Art Therapy, one of the associations the Necker Mauritius Open has been supporting in all its editions, was held on the 28th of May with the participation of the Pro Squash Players and approximately 100 participants.
The goal behind the organisation of this walk was to raise funds to:
– Train volunteers in art therapy
– Implementation of art therapy sessions and creative workshops in the community gardens of Island Bio
– Support a joint Carpe Diem Art Therapy / ISLAND BIO project: the opening of a community café
– Develop a spirit of community, mutual aid and solidarity
– Participate in the well-being of their country by helping families in troubled areas
School Awareness
The Necker Pro Squash Open, in collaboration with Vanessa Florens -one of the best Mauritian squash players and manager/coach of the Florens Squash Academy- organised satellite events bringing Squash to Mauritian Schools. Several schools around the island were approached with the purpose of creating awareness for children and parents of the health benefits of squash.
